Video Marketing
Online Video Domination
April 2, 2012

You might have seen a recent trend with affiliate products being promoted that just shows a video and no long sales letter. This is because videos have become a new trusted source and one which people lean towards more when promoting their products. Most people do not have the time or interest in reading over a well written 2000 word sales letter. Instead a video that plays for 10 minutes or less can sum up this information and push the sale. However I do recommend having both a sales letter copy and a video copy to please both worlds which for some reason many affiliate sites have not yet grasped.

With all of this video sharing the question that comes to mind is where are all these videos being viewed. You would think a majority would be made up of websites such as hulu or netflix but in a recent survey from comscore report these two only make up 2%-3% of the total online videos being watched. The majority of these are being viewed on Google sites such as Youtube and in second place VEVO. However Google holds a majority of these video views at over 50% of the total videos being viewed online.

This is why it is important as an affiliate marketer or as a business to have a Youtube account and at least backlink your videos to your main site. A quick service to create cool looking videos and information about what you offer is called Animoto. This creates a storyline with pictures in which you add cool effects, great video and sound quality to go with it.

I am a big fan of video. It is a great way for people to meet you and trust you. I love youtube. My id is mcwahl1 there. Just take a look, I have over 100 videos and counting. I agree both text and video should be used. It’s always best to cover all your bases.

  • Another great post Sean! I would agree with that videos are becoming the biggest thing for marketing right now you can’t go any where with out seeing a video that is selling something. I’m not a big fan of the video because I surf a lot a night while my wife and kids are sleeping so I don’t have my volume on anyway. But I can see why a lot of people like them most people don’t want to spend the time reading any more. They even have books out now that you can just play on a tape so you don’t have to read the book. Lol.

Thanks again for the recommendation for the site to make videos I will check it out for sure.

    Thank you

We use a lot of video with our promotions… When focusing on personal development we always put a video at the top with ad copy below. Many times folks will look at one or the other. Sometimes people will look at both if they are looking to make a decision. I use video quiet a bit in promotions I do… what you will find is that if you do not have text when you do a search on a website that has only video you will see no data or limited data in the search engine. So if you are doing it right you need to use both! 🙂

    Thank you,

P.S. YouTube now has a little more abilities to edit videos…
